Lamar Griffin

Lamar Griffin, 90, a resident of Aurora, Colorado died on July 21, 2015 at his home. Lamar was born 4/26/1925 to Lemmie and Alice May Griffin in Florala, AL. He was married twice, first to Betty Giffin and then to Catherine Griffin. During his 90 years, Lamar served in the US Army, was a cook at Fitzsimmons and Lowry Air Force Base and later worked in retail for several major department stores. His passion was music. He loved listening to traditional jazz and playing the piano. Lamar even hosted a late evening Jazz show on the local station, KVOD for seven years. Visitation information: Viewing will take place Friday, July 31, 2015 from 10:30am to 11:30 at Aspen Mortuaries, 1350 Simms St., Lakewood followed by funeral services at 11:30. Serving as pallbearers will be Prince Holley, Lamar Griffin, JR, Tommie Brooks, Preston Knight, Jim Kisler and Dominic Kisler Interment will take place at Ft Logan Cemetery at 1:30pm. Lamar is survived and remembered with love by: Children (their spouse): Beverly Holley (Prince); Lamar Griffin, Jr. (Lisa); Barbara Griffin; Siblings: Margaret Jean Brooks; Ceola Collins; Grandchildren: Preston Knight; Quentin Holley; Jamie O’Brien; Zach Edwards; Jeff Edwards; Morgan Kisler Olsen; Kimberly Kisler Pisca; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, his sisters Geraldine, Gladys, and Sharon Kay and brothers Adolf and Charles.
